Terms of Service
Effective and last updated September 22, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to AnnotationBridge. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must review your participation and complete the guardian acknowledgement during registration.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You must provide accurate registration information, keep it current, and use your own account. You are responsible for protecting your password and for activity under your account. Tell the program administrator promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
Registration does not guarantee acceptance or continued access. AnnotationBridge may review applications and limit participation based on program capacity, training completion, safety, data quality, or compliance with these terms. Volunteers under 18 may participate only after the required guardian acknowledgement is completed.
2. Program participation
The platform provides educational training and image-annotation tasks. You must complete required training and meet the displayed verification standard before verified tasks become available. Instructions, datasets, scoring methods, task availability, and acceptance standards may change as the program improves.
AnnotationBridge is not a medical service. Do not diagnose a person, provide medical advice, use the platform in an emergency, or rely on a task image or score for healthcare decisions. Contact a qualified healthcare professional for medical questions.
3. Volunteer credit and certificates
Under the current program rules, an eligible, unique verified-task submission with an intersection-over-union score greater than 0.9 earns two volunteer minutes. Training exercises, failed or duplicate submissions, drafts, and administrator test work do not earn credit. The rules displayed in the platform at the time of submission control if program settings later change.
Credit is subject to automated checks and administrative review. We may correct or revoke credit obtained through an error, duplicate work, manipulation, account sharing, or a violation of these terms. A certificate reports eligible credit recorded by AnnotationBridge; a school or other organization decides whether to accept it for its own requirements. We do not guarantee that an outside organization will accept any hours or certificate.
4. Acceptable use
You agree that you will:
- complete work yourself and submit your own careful annotations;
- follow task, confidentiality, conduct, and integrity instructions;
- use provided data only inside the authorized task workflow;
- treat other volunteers and administrators respectfully; and
- report technical problems or accidental access to restricted data.
You may not:
- share accounts, falsely claim hours, or manipulate scores or timers;
- copy, download, publish, identify, or redistribute task data unless expressly authorized;
- upload malicious code, patient information, or unlawful content;
- probe security controls or access another person’s records; or
- use automated tools to submit annotations without written permission.
5. Your contributions
You retain any rights you may have in an original annotation. By submitting an annotation, answer, correction, or feedback, you grant AnnotationBridge a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, review, score, modify, combine, analyze, and use that contribution to operate and improve the program and for educational or research purposes. This license allows us to create and share aggregate or de-identified results and to preserve records that support awarded volunteer credit.
You represent that your submission is your own work and that you have the right to provide it. Do not include your name, another person’s information, or unrelated content inside an annotation.
6. Platform and dataset materials
The platform software, branding, training materials, task instructions, and administrative content are owned by AnnotationBridge or its licensors. Medical-image datasets and reference masks may be owned or licensed by third parties, including the providers of the ISIC 2018 dataset. Your access is limited to participation in the program and does not transfer ownership or grant permission to redistribute those materials.
7. Suspension and ending use
You may stop using the platform at any time and may request account closure through the program administrator. We may limit, suspend, or close access when reasonably necessary for safety, security, program integrity, prolonged inactivity, legal compliance, or a violation of these terms. When practical, we will explain the decision and provide a way to ask for review.
Terms concerning contribution licenses, program records, intellectual property, disclaimers, and responsibility continue to apply after an account closes where needed for their purpose.
8. Disclaimers and responsibility
The platform is provided on an “as available” basis. We work to keep it accurate and secure, but cannot promise uninterrupted access, a particular number of tasks, acceptance into the program, a specific score, or acceptance of volunteer credit by a third party.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, AnnotationBridge is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot legally be excluded or limits rights that applicable law gives you.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms when the program changes. We will post the revised terms here, update the date above, and provide additional notice when required. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms; if you do not agree, stop using the platform and ask to close your account.
Questions about these terms should be sent to the AnnotationBridge administrator through the contact address provided in your enrollment or account communications.
